Rick, I can never tell when you’re joking…
I’ve heard this a few times. I’m kinda rough when it comes to kidding around. My family was always joking around with each other and I figured it was just what people did.
But sometimes I wasn’t tenderhearted and my jokes could come across as unkind. In fact, sometimes arguments with friends would start and I’d have to apologize and admit that I was just kidding.
It’s important for me to realize that I want to reflect someone bigger than me, Jesus. And there are two words in today’s Verse of the Day that are subtle, but important: “just as”.
In addition to forgiving one another (which is extremely important…), I need to learn to be kind and tenderhearted, just as God through Christ was.
